The First Year Committee represents the New-to-Asper students in the Faculty of Management. Two elected First Year Representatives chair the First Year Committee, leading the planning of various fundraisers and charities, as well as a killer social event. The First Year Committee is an amazing way to start your journey at Asper and get involved early on. Not only will you gain some valuable experience, you will also make life-long connections along the way.

The Charity Co-Chairs are responsible for selecting a charity, or charities, that they feel passionate about supporting and then planning and executing events throughout the year to celebrate and give back to said charities. These Co-Chairs act as a liaison between local non-profits such as the Boys and Girls Club of Winnipeg.

The Fundraising Co-Chairs are in charge of planning and organizing various fundraisers throughout the year to support the FYC’s charitable causes. In addition to event planning, they are responsible for coordinating the volunteers for these fundraisers.

The Marketing Co-Chairs have the responsibility of running the FYC’s social media pages. They also are in charge of creating content that engages New-to-Asper students and highlights the FYC’s events and initiatives throughout the year. These Co-Chairs work closely with the CSA’s marketing team to design all promotional materials used for FYC events.

The Events Co-Chairs are responsible for planning and organizing at least one social event that engages New-to-Asper students, typically held in January. In working with various local stakeholders, they will be responsible for the conducting the logistics and acquiring the various resources needed for the event.

The Finance Chair works closely with the CSA’s Vice President of Finance to set a budget for the FYC at the beginning of their term. They also keep track of all incurred income and expenses to help ensure that the FYC stays on budget and is able to meet their goals. They are also responsible for collecting all documentation needed to issue reimbursements.

The International Chair is responsible for acting as a liaison between the FYC and New-to-Asper international students. Through various initiatives, this position works closely with the CSA International Engagement Coordinators to increase student engagement.
